Ripple, the company behind the XRP cryptocurrency, has secured another major institutional deal

Ripple Labs, the company behind the cryptocurrency XRP and its blockchain XRP Ledger (XRPL) continues to hog the headlines in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space with a new major institutional deal. Guggenheim Treasury Services, a major player in the commercial paper space, has brought its Digital Commercial Paper (DCP) product to the XRPL blockchain, making it the first native digital commercial paper live on this blockchain. DCP is a short-term debt product backed by the U.S. Treasuries and rated prime 1 by Moody’s. It is a key asset for institutional investors looking for safe, yield-bearing products and now it is available on XRPL, fully tokenized and ready for real-time finance.

Now on Ripple’s blockchain, DCP is now a lot more flexible for institutions that manage cash or settle trades. It can now be used for cross-border payments, as collateral or to support liquidity needs — all without having to wait days for traditional settlements to clear. Ripple / XRP offers real time settlement, regulatory compliance, and already has wide geographic coverage covering six continents. It is at the forefront of blockchain-enabled finance and is tapping a market measured in the trillions of dollars.

Ripple allocates $5 million to fund APAC universities

In other news related to Asia, Ripple is now partnering with universities in the APAC region to expand blockchain research and talent development. It is making a fresh commitment of more than $5 million in funding to universities across APAC, according to a June 10 statement. It will be targetting universities in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia and is is part of Ripple’s ongoing strategy to foster talent and innovation in regions with a strong digital finance appetite. The Asia-Pacific region has become a key hub for fintech, boasting a high concentration of neobanks and a growing number of markets with forward-thinking regulations. This includes Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.

Ripple’s rise

Ripple / XRP is gaining strong institutional traction due to its use case of solving real world problems in the traditional finance space. Recently, two Nasdaq-listed corporations, VivoPower and Webus, have announced plans for capital raises in the hundreds of millions of dollars to acquire XRP for their corporate treasuries. Not only do these firms see the value of XRP as a long-term appreciating asset, they plan to incorporate XRP to streamline cross-border payments and boost transparency across their operations.

XRP should be on anyone’s investment radar as it offers a practical solution to the changing dynamics of finance.

As reported on Binance Square:

“As the world moves toward tokenization, instant global settlement, and decentralized finance, XRP stands at the crossroads of utility and necessity. It’s no longer about speculation—it’s about solving trillion-dollar problems.”
