Singapore named as world’s most crypto engaged country

A recent study by Apex Protocol has named Singapore as the world’s most crypto focused country. The United Arab Emirates was ranked second, the US third, and Canada fourth.

For the study, each country was analysed across four key factors reflecting public engagement and infrastructure: the share of the population owning cryptocurrency in 2024, the pace of adoption since 2019, online search activity related to crypto measured per 100K people, and the number of cryptocurrency ATMs in operation.

In terms of the percentage of people holding cryptocurrency, Singapore ranked second with nearly 25% of the population owning crypto. This is a strong jump from 2021, when only about 11% of the population were invested. The UAE ranked first, with 25.3% of its population owning crypto. The UAE was also recently identified as the fourth largest government holder of Bitcoin. Meanwhile, 10.1% of Canadians hold crypto, while the US leads with the number of cryptocurrency ATMs, at 30,000.

Only one other Asian country ranked in the top ten, Indonesia. In this Southeast Asian country, Crypto adoption has grown by 163%, and currently 14% of the population owns crypto.

APEX protocol said the findings reflect how deeply cryptocurrency is becoming part of everyday life in many countries.

“Cryptocurrency is no longer on the fringe; it’s becoming part of how countries define their financial future. From cultural curiosity to institutional momentum, the global landscape is shifting fast. What stands out most is how embedded cryptocurrency has become in everyday life, not just as an investment, but as a reflection of how people engage with technology, money, and trust in the digital age.”
