Solana gets its Solmate with new treasury firm: $300 million raised with backing from UAE investors

Continuing our coverage of Solana, a high performance blockchain and cryptocurrency gaining significant traction on Wall Street, the Nasdaq listed Brera Holdings has just raised $300 million through a PIPE financing deal (which was oversubscribed) to transform the company into a Solana treasury and infrastructure firm. The company will be renamed Solmate.

The PIPE deal was sponsored by Pulsar Group, a UAE-based technology and blockchain advisory firm, with backing secured from the Solana Foundation, RockawayX, and traditional investment firms like ARK Invest.

UAE backing

As reported by media, Solmate aims to place Solana’s blockchain-based solutions at the heart of the UAE’s digital transformation agenda through the deployment of cutting-edge infrastructure and performant staking strategies. The UAE is quickly growing as a crypto and blockchain hub. As we reported earlier this month, the country has recently been identified as the fourth largest government holder of Bitcoin, holding about 6,300 BTC worth roughly $700 million. In May, Dubai became the first city in the world to accept cryptocurrency for government service payments. And now with Solmate, UAE investors will have significant more exposure to Solana.

In a press release by Brera, the firm stated:

“Solmate intends to direct a portion of the funds secured into revenue-generating crypto infrastructure projects in the UAE, the first of which will be bare metal servers in Abu Dhabi configured to outperform typical DAT validator strategies. Solmate’s planned Solana validator would, for the first time, allow regional investors the opportunity to capitalize on Solana’s native yield-generating capability with a performant SOL validator in the Middle East.”

Why not Bitcoin or Ethereum?

Why did Brera choose Solana? The firm stated:

“Solana is recognized as the fastest-growing blockchain in the world, processing more transactions and generating more on-chain revenue than all other blockchains combined. Natively yield-generating, unlike BTC, the Solana network is forecast to outgrow the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks in the next three years as it continues to add more new developers than any other chain every month.”

A logical choice. As traditional financial markets move on-chain in an unfolding digital and blockchain financial revolution, Solana is tipped to be among the greatest benefactors of this transformation.
